This was a life saver. I couldn't find this product locally so I was glad to get it. The only negative was I ordered 2 by accident and the return shipping was almost the cost of the product. When I did the math, it wasn't worth my time. Otherwise the product worked as expectedWorked great on the 1:10 pitch on my roof. I felt safe working standing on the ladderTook some work to get the wing it and clamp on in a manner in which it held fast. Definitely need two of them. I don’t know why they don’t come as a pair. The temptation is to slap one on and go. Not wise. Did I mention the attaching clamp is a bit touchy. I’m sure it depends on the ladder. Anyway, I would buy it again and if I ever need to use it again I will buy the second one.The hook works well for my composition roof. It’s easy to get hooked up to my telescope ladder. There are two issues and that’s why I give only 4 stars. The hook is a little bit small and the end may damage roof as no rubber or plastic protector. The wheels are small and not easy to move my ladder with it.Summary, awesome! Love it!My wife and I are in a house that has 2 levels and hanging lights on the roof above the garage was impossible and dangerous because of the slope of the roof so you couldn't do it from above, and I didn't have a ladder high enough to reach. BUT the you could get onto the ridge of the first level and then climb to the ridge of the second level. Only problem was you couldn't go down the roof at all because of the steepness of it. This meant we were going to go "lightless" for christmas this year.I did check with people that hang lights professionally and the going rate was about $175.. Way too much for me to spend. So I did some searching and found these ridge mount ladder hooks. I had no idea something like this existed. After reading the reviews I wasn't sure if they would work because people mentioned how unsafe it was, etc. But I decided I could always return them if they didn't work so I pulled the trigger and ordered 2.The box arrived and was beat to hell, but that was ok, these are made of steel and if it can't take the abuse of UPS getting it to my house there is no way I would trust it with my life. Good news, they were in perfect condition when I pulled them through the hole in the box.I was using these on my little giant which I wasn't sure would work, but I am happy to say it did, it worked perfectly. I was able to secure both hooks (I ordered 2, they only come in single units) and did some initial tests by banging it and pulling on them to see if they would pop off, they didn't.I was ready to hang the lights. I carried everything up to the roof then lifted my ladder up and walked along the ridge to the second level, put the ladder down and in about 7 seconds felt totally comfortable and confident. There was no wobble, no shaking. These things held onto the roof well with no damage to it and kept the ladder exactly where I wanted it. I was able to then climb down the ladder which was hooked onto the ridge and hang lights along the slope of the roof. I then got to the bottom where the gutter was and sat on the bottom run and felt secure while attaching lights along the gutter. I had to climb up to the ridge, move the ladder over a few feet and then climb back down and start all over as I was doing part of the roof, but the entire time I felt 100% safe. The cost to have someone hang lights on my rood was $175. These cost me $21 each for a total of $42. It took me less then an hour to do my lights and I saved $133 PLUS these things will last for years. This is one of the best tool purchases I have ever made, I love these hooks. If you need something like this get these, but note they only come in single units so you need to order 2. Some people say you can use just one, I wouldn't trust it. With 2 the ladder is held at 2 points which prevents it from swinging side to side. With one who knows what could happen. I submitted 2 pictures of my ladder on my roof as well.If you found my review helpful please marm it as so!Has a swivel wheel which is very dangerous.Worked awesome! The product worked fine but I had to go buy a bolt and wing nut that was missing from from the ladder hookThe single unit worked fine for me on my one story roof, but I did have to remove the swivel caster wheel which was a nuisance and dangerous trying to push the ladder up in a straight line. I actually found an old discarded shopping cart and took off the wheel assembly and clamped it to the top rung of the ladder. The 6 inch wheels and solid axle made it much easier to roll up and down the roof. The only problem I had with this unit is that it is designed for D shape rungs, which work well with my standard ladder with 12 rungs, but for one section of my roof the ladder was way too long with the roof valley and it would have been better to use my shorter Little Giant mid section 8 rung, but the rung shape was different and would not fit.But in general it worked as expected after the removal of the swivel caster.I should have followed the reviews more closely on this. It's good and solid but not the easiest to slide up to the roof ridge because of the rotating wheel. They should secure the wheel so that it is single direction only and will avoid the ladder from slipping to the side. Also found that the hook was inadequate to give me a real sense of security. It didn't go far enough over the ridge and didn't allow for adjustment to sit flat against the opposite side of the roof.Could be so much better. I returned it because I was not comfortable using it. Unfortunate.used on a 10/12 roof....(with a personal harness). Product works well (manufacturer says to use in pairs and we did) and felt very secure and safe on this steep roof. We could not find a ladder hook anywhere in NS so we order these from Amazon. sturdy and well made except should have a rubber pad on the foot of the hook so as not to damage roofing. We are going to add piece off an old tire with rivets. It would also help if the foot swiveled so as to adapt to different roof angles. The old ones that we had borrowed years ago had these features.Had to re screw the tin roof on my shop, boy is this slick, bought two for my ladder and it holds really really well, easy to move about although may depend on the weight of your ladder but I had no problems at all, super secure and slips over the peek with lots of grab, you can work of this all day without that sketchy sick feeling in your stomach that any second you and your tools are going for a ride, highly recommend and for the price it's a no brainer!!
